Nothing Like Free to Beat the Heat

Now that summer vacation is in full swing, what have you been doing?

You know me, I like to be economical. I like to save. I like discounts. Even more, I like FREE!

If you’re low in cash like me, you should research online for your community’s freebies. In my area, they have Free Tuesdays where you don’t have to pay to check out museums. They also have some theaters that will play second run movies for FREE.

I scored today. I cooled off in the movie theaters. It was FREE. AND I watched a cool movie, “Firehouse Dog.” I know, I know, it’s an old movie, one that’s on DVD already. But how often do you get to watch it on BIG screen in an air conditioned theater, away from the 100 degree heat with other people and with buttered popcorn? Ha! I thought so.
Regal Cinemas (www.regmovies.com) have FREE movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. You should check out the movies that they’ll be showing. They have it all mapped out for the summer. I hear AMC theaters have it too but only on Wednesdays and for a nominal fee of a buck. Still good, don’t ya think?

Wildfires are Spreading!

You know how I like to travel? And you know how I love trees?

I was thinking of somewhere to go this weekend and thought I’d visit another National Forest like last weekend (Big Bear is located in the San Bernardino National Forest).

I thought of Napa Valley, I could do some wine tasting and hit the national forests. Tons of trees. There are also so many National Parks that way: Mendocino, Los Padres, Tahoe, Shasta-Trinity, Plumas and not to mention the famous Yosemite. Here’s a link that maps them all out. (www.fs.fed.us/r5/forests.html)

I talked to my bud up in SF and she said that the California Wildfires are spreading right in those areas and that I should save it for another trip. HUH??

SAVE THOSE TREES!

And maybe next time I better jump and read the news first. (www.calfires.com)
Keep me informed, won’t ya?? Any fires around your area?

Spot Loves This Airline

I can’t believe I forgot to tell you about the new airlines we flew when going to SF last month. Virgin America (www.virginamerica.com)

We bought our tickets 3 months in advance and it was $49 one way. Isn’t that good? We use to drive to save money, can’t really do that now with these rising gas prices.

Not only was it a good rate to fly, this airline was state-of-the-art. There were TV consoles in front of every seat where you can watch TV, get the news, purchase videos to watch, buy snacks and beer, play free games, chat with anyone on the plane and other things I had yet to discover.

Boy, did that make the time fly….get it? Fly. We’re on a plane. Fly.

Anyway, check out the cool kids that were at the airport. They loved me!

Can’t Judge a Book by its Cover

What a riot I had last night!!

Did you know that not all dogs can swim? (Yeah, it amazed me too!)

I thought all us dogs are born knowing how to swim. I’ve never heard of swim classes for dogs or anything and I always see dogs swimming out at the lake, on the river or in a pool.

Well, last night I was hanging out with some friends, having a BBQ and dipping in the pool to stay cool.

One dog had a life vest on!!! I was thinking, “You’ve got to be kidding.”

It was no joke, this dog would have sunk to the bottom of the pool if he didn’t have this bright orange life vest on.

He was a good looking bulldog, kinda looked intimidating with his heavy, stocky frame. He was on the quirky side, always standing on the ledge ready to stake his territory. But by the end of the day and with my charismatic personality, I got to know him better and he really was a nice guy. He was friendly and was so ready to shake paws. It just goes to show you that you can’t judge a book by its cover, AND not all dogs can swim. But don’t laugh because even those non swimming dogs can be fun friends to hang with. By the way, if you would be interested in a life jacket vest for your pet, you can find a wide selection at www.hunterk9.com

A Weekend in Big Bear, for the Big Dog

June 23, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · 1 Comment

This weekend I went up to a family camp in Big Bear, CA to get some rest and to relax.

Did you know that winter brings an average of 100 inches of snow to Big Bear Mountain? However, there are more than 300 days of beautiful sunshine all year long. Learn more about Big Bear at www.bigbear.com

The camp loved the idea of silence and meditation. They loved deliberately getting quiet to listen, to empty all those thoughts, worries and to get un-busy. You know how people are, they don’t know how to run wild like us dogs. They’re too busy thinking about what other people are thinking. Us dogs, we just like to roam free, could care less what other dogs think. The camp people also made us take a rest after lunch. Shoot, you don’t ever have to make me take a nap. I’ll take one whenever I feel like it!

This was the perfect place to be free. What awesome views!! I enjoyed looking out at the dense forests. It seems that I don’t see much trees anymore, trees that I can mark my spot. I heard and listened to the birds chirping. I saw a bird’s nest with little baby birds. Their mom came and they opened up their beaks to be fed. Boy, did they make a lot of noise! They must have been hungry!

I watched big ants carrying stuff that was 10 times their size. You’d never see me working that hard.

I saw MILLIONS of different bugs and flies, some of them just wouldn’t leave me alone!

I did some fishing in Cedar Lake. I did a little swimming on the lake. I did a little kayaking on the lake.

I met some cool, friendly people that totally loved on me. I met a couple of dog lovers, Bino and Dino. Isn’t that funny? I thought dogs have crazy names. I guess if you’re cool and you’re loved, it doesn’t matter what your name is. I gotta cool name, I’m loved and I got relaxed this weekend, did you?

Inspired at Central Park

Bailey and I had a ton of fun in New York. Central Park was a great time.

Did you know that Central Park is the most visited city park in the whole United States? If you have never been there, you really should treat yourself. It will inspire you. One thing I learned while I was there was that although the park looks natural, it’s really landscaped. Even the ponds and lakes. The park is managed by a non-profit organization called the Central Park Conservancy. You can learn more about the beautiful Central Park at www.centralpark.com
Well after hanging out at Central Park, Bailey and I went back to my house. We started talking about how he should get a girlfriend. Like I said, Central park will inspire you. I guess Bailey was inspired by the couples he saw strolling around the park. He mentioned he wouldn’t mind having a girlfriend. He insist he doesn’t need help finding one. We went back and forth about his past girls. After about an hour past, Bailey finally gave me the green light. So I have the pleasure of finding a girlfriend for my pal! I have full control and I’m so excited. I may even request some help from some other friends of mine.

If anyone out there knows of a good looking dog, with a nice personality, than please send me a picture. You can send it to the myspace mailbox at www.myspace.com/spotya. Who knows, I may find a special one, too. :-) People, have your dog on a tight leash because here we come!

Me and Bailey in Central Park

Me and my pal, Bailey in Central Park

So me and my pal, Bailey hung out all day yesterday. We usually go to the park and check out the dogs on leashes. I’d like to run around and check out all the other dogs in the park. You know, really cut loose.  But I get to thinking about Rosa and it kinda keeps things on an even keel. Bailey doesn’t have any of that holding him back though. So he goes to check out every dog that passes by. He needs a girlfriend of his own. Then, maybe he could chill out at the park and not be up in everybody’s business all the time. Bailey is pretty good with the ladies. He tells me he doesn’t want to get too involved with a girlfriend. He claims he’s “picky” but I’ve seen some of the gals he’s checked up close. Anyways, we had a good time. After that we crashed in on a frisbee throwing session and called it a day. Good times.

Let Me Explain…

June 16, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

Well, it was looking really good for my favorite basketball team, the Los Angeles Lakers. I was extremely confident about game number four. I even placed a small bet against my friend. You remember Rosa, the girl from the beach, right? Well she apparently is a huge Celtic fan this season. I don’t think she really cares about basketball period, but since she knows how much I love the Lakers, she wants to go against me. So we made a friendly wager on game four. If I were to win then she has to buy us both some Laker gear. I want a new Kobe jersey. She says if she wins, then I have to dress up like a girl. “HAHAHA!” I laughed out loud. “Like that’s going to happen.” I assured. Well, I sure didn’t want anyone to see this, but by now, we all know the outcome. To make that even worse, it was a Celtic green dress. She asked me if I wanted to bet on the next game. I say the Lakers are going to win! As for a bet goes, no thanks.

Cash Advance Has Its Rewards

June 12, 2008 · Filed Under cash advance · Comment

It’s really a joyous feeling when you hear that you have helped someone else do something they didn’t think they could do. It feels like the most rewarding thing when a complete stranger tells you they ran out of answers or lost hope, and it’s because of you that they were able to be rejuvenated and accomplish whatever their intention or goal was. It’s a harsh reality to know that we can’t do much without money. There comes a time in everyone’s life when they need money at a certain time and they just don’t have it. I think its great to know that despite the bad name that the cash advance or a payday loan industry has received in the past years, some still can see the rewards it brings them. Just yesterday I read two blogs over the internet written by people who I never had the pleasure of meeting. One was a single mother of two kids; the other was a younger gentleman more than likely 18-20 years old. Each of them explained their unique situation where they were pressing for money. Each had their own reason for the need of fast cash, but they had the same conclusion. They both got a cash advance from Spotya!

The lady needed to get her car fixed right away. Of course, with having two kids that were into sports and enjoying being kids, she needed her car and couldn’t wait for her paycheck to come 2 weeks later. She found out about Spotya! And now her and her children are back on schedule.

The man was into music and his family wasn’t really supportive. He and his friends were extremely confident in their talents and were determined to get into a talent show where they could possibly win $2000. Only issue there was that they had to pay $200 as an entrance fee. They couldn’t wait for their paychecks, and by looking us up, they received the money they needed quickly. Good luck to them!

Thanks to everyone who turned to Spotya! To get them though. We are very grateful to you and are glad to help. Come back anytime!
