Earth Day -April 22, 2009
Earth Day brings out cool things in people and companies. Definitely look around for specials. I know at a lot of those Earth Day Fairs and other events, they’ll have a lot of information and freebies. Search around your town, they will be out there.
I was checking out Spoofee to see what I’ve been missing. I’ve been enjoying Spring Break with my kids so I try to stay away from the computer and bond with the kids. It turns out I missed some free stuff on Tax Day, April 15th: massage, ice cream, tote bag, etc.
For Earth Day, some companies have their specials. I ran into Disney’s site and they have a free gift for people who bring in 3 plastic bottles. I think that is super!! Look around, be informed, who knows what you might find?!?! ….and then share the info!!

Thrift idea
I was asking a friend where he got his stylish shirt. I know he’s a great shopper, he likes value and dresses sharply. He had this red shirt on that my husband had his eye on. It was the “perfect” red. My husband decided he was going to ask to try it on. It wasn’t the correct size. I asked him where he got the shirt from, I thought he was going to say Robinson’s or Nordstrom. I know he’s a sucker for value so I was even thinking that he might say Ross.
You know what he said?
He said ” Salvation Army.”
Wow! Who would’ve ever known?
Then I remembered a few years ago when my mother-in-law would go to Salvation Army or those other thrift stores, shop on the day where they give her the senior citizen discount. She would look for the brand name shirts, send them to the drycleaners, bring them to my husband and older sons, pressed with high starch. The shirts were like brand new.
My friend said that there are days when they’ll have half off discounts. That is definitely the way to go to save money and have a fresh wardrobe, for low prices.
Recycle, that’s the ticket!!!! Try it out! Find the thrift stores around town, find those values that we all LOVE!
Earth Day 2009
It’s coming, plan ahead so you don’t miss the events around town. Officially Earth Day is April 22nd.
I think different states celebrate as early as this weekend and then in our town, San Diego we’ll celebrate on April 19th.
From their website, “Our annual EarthFair is the largest free annual environmental fair in the world. EarthFair 2009 will be our 20th anniversary – the 40th anniversary of Earth Day! Each year, the EarthFair draws around 70,000 visitors.
Produced by 400 volunteers, EarthFair features more than 200 exhibitors, special theme areas, a Food Pavilion, a special Kids’ Activity Area, five entertainment venues, the Children’s Earth Parade (All Species Welcome) and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Parade and Show.”
Doesn’t that sound like something you don’t want to miss!?! Especially if you have kids, can you imagine what an impression it would be on them, and then what an impact it may make on our Mother Earth?!
There are so many events out there. If you have an event and want to spread the word, here’s a good website Earthday.net.
