Borrowing cash from friends or family can put one in a sticky situation. Not only can it be embarrassing but it can morph one’s relationship. When you need hassle-free cash, perhaps a cash advance is your best bet.

Cash advance companies don’t need explanations or bribery. They are willing to give you the funds you need without questions. Perhaps next time you’re in a bind, you’ll consider a payday loan company.

If your kids are like most pixel-loving children, they most likely have dozens of video games. A majority of them are probably no longer used. Instead of gathering dust and consuming space, there is an alternative. You can trade in games for cash.

To get the most cash for your games, shop around. Try different game stores to get the best deal.

Love the movies? Who doesn’t? However going to the actual theatre can get quite pricey with popcorn, soda, and candy. It all adds up. The Regal Crown Club is a membership card that can rack up points on all movie ticket purchases as well as concessions. It’s a great way to receive free tickets, popcorn, and even soda.

And the best part is all the freebies are redeemed on your next visit. The box office will hand you your freebie whenever you have racked up enough points. Its a great way to get a little something back.

Forget Ordering food, think Potluck

Today was a co-worker’s birthday and we all decided to have breakfast in the office. Instead of ordering food, we decided to make it ourselves. We each brought in supplies, from household items, cooking supplies, and food. Overall when each person chipped in, it became a huge feast. Not only was it a great party, but it was affordable.

The celebration was a huge hit and allowed everyone to cook as well as prepare the feast. It was a great office, team-building activity.

Used Books

Right next door to our public library, there is a Used Bookstore. It’s awesome!

Last week I was turning in some books at the library and had no intention on going into the used bookstore, but found myself paying for 3 books. One was a Sidney Poitier book that I had been eyeing at Costco, another was a Jimmy Carter book that I gave to a friend for his birthday and another is “The Power of Praying Parents” that I ended up sending to another friend since her *baby* was graduating and leaving the nest. I paid $5 for these three books that were in EXCELLENT condition.

A couple months ago, my son found an antique book of poetry by Edgar A. Guest. That was $4, also in very good condition.

Oh man, I just love that we have access to this used bookstore. It makes it easier to be patient and not spend $20 or more for a new book. AND it goes along with the recycling movement, why buy a new book when there’s a perfectly good used book available?!

I’m so happy….saving a little of money on something that I love, BOOKS!

Where is your money going?

The other day I decided to take a close hard look at my bank statement, to pin point exactly where each and every dollar is spent. I took out a calculator a piece of paper and categorized my spending from Payments, Food, and Shopping. At the end of my calculations, I was able to take a look at all my expenses. It was astonishing! I could not believe how much money I had spent on online shopping.

The point is, by actually calculating each and every expense, you can realize how much of your expenses is being spent on irrelevant items. So,go ahead and dare to take a look at your bank statement and question your actual spending. It could be a real budget saver.

Board Games are making a comeback

July 11, 2009 · Filed Under Current News · 2 Comments

Recently I read an article by CNN stating that board games are making a comeback into homes. Board games may be the ancient past time hobby in comparison to high-tech video games. Yet the awe-inspiring video games are becoming harder and harder to fit into family budgets. Just because budgets are tight, that doesn’t mean entertainment is out the window. Families are now purchasing less-expensive entertainment (Monopoly, Clue, etc.) to entertain little ones. Honestly this change may just be a change for the better. Instead of young ones staring at violent video games, they are now playing classic board games with parents, sibling, or hopefully the entire family. This may just lead an increase to family time, and give the television a much needed break. To read the full article : money.cnn.com
