Pay for a Gym Membership?
Yes? or No?
It depends. (How’s that for an answer?)
To be honest with you, I probably shouldn’t be paying for a gym membership. My husband treated me a few months ago to an LA Fitness membership. I wanted to play racquetball. I wanted to take the classes. Running was getting boring for me. My gym room at home was soo boring. I’m not going to the gym as much as I use to anymore. I loved going with my friends on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. I started working certain mornings and now it left me with one day I could meet my friends.
It’s not enough to be paying $30/month. I should be running, I should be doing video tapes in my living room, I should be running on my treadmill in my home gym, I should be doing some strength training with my weight ball, yoga ball or hand weights.
There is so much information on the internet to dial you into a fitness program. Free Trainers, Personal Trainer, Fitness Programs, Diet and Weight Loss Plans Look around and try to incorporate the free plans out there. You really don’t *need* to be spending money on a gym membership if you’re not using it enough. There are lots of programs you can find that won’t cost you a penny, if you’re willing to be flexible.
No Cable?
We haven’t had cable or really TV for about three years.
We really hit some hard times, one night our cable TV got shut off when we didn’t pay the bill. The first night it was horrible. What were we going to do?
This is what we started to do: family nights.
We played games, board games, card games, video games, whatever. We had movie night where we’d pick a DVD and have popcorn. We would have reading night. Sometimes we’d all do different things and have our personal downtime.
On the most part, we engaged with each other more. A good thing!
Three years later, we still don’t pay for any cable and we don’t need it. And believe me, I can’t really say we’re bored with no TV. If anything, we’re more busy with soccer, school and everything else. Today I learned of a website where you can watch some of your favorite movies and TV shows at your computer….if you need to.
Penny Auction?
My friend is very frugal. She loves to make money on stuff that is laying around her home. She loves to resell her kids’ toys–when they’re done with it of course. She loves selling her stuff on Ebay and Craig’s list. She worked around to sell her daughter’s tortoise. You can’t sell anything live on Craig’slist but you can charge a *processing* fee, a processing fee of $90. (how coincidental, $90 is how much the tortoise cost) She received 3 calls within a couple of hours. Tortoise was gone from her daughter’s responsibilities that next day.
The other day she was laughing at how she went to a *penny auction*. I wanted to know more about it. I guess she’s in this community where they’ll hold these auctions in garages and you can make a hundred and a couple hundred dollars depending on what you have to sell.
