Well, today marks 7 years after that devastating day where so many lives were lost in terrorist attacks against the United States.

It seems like so long ago but in the same breath, it seems like just yesterday.

I would just like to lift up prayers for all of those who suffered a loss(es) and thank all those heroic people who made themselves known that day.

We do remember.

Have you heard in the news about one of the largest identity theft cases in the U.S that was cracked yesterday?

The Federal authorities are charging 11 people in the theft of more than 40 million credit and debit card account numbers from computer systems at major retailers. It had been a three year investigation and the total damages may never be known. They are saying it’s the biggest and the most complex cases ever charged in the country. The hacking technique they used was “wardriving”, cruising through different the streets with a laptop, looking for accessible wireless Internet signals. Once they located a vulnerable network, they installed so-called “sniffer programs” that captured credit and debit card numbers as they moved through a retailer’s processing networks. The 11 people charged come from all over the world: China, Ukraine, Estonia, Belarus and the U.S.. The ringleader, if convicted, could face a lifetime in prison.

Should I go in Debt?

July 28, 2008 · Filed Under help with debt, update · Comment

I found a little article that listed the 3 good reasons to go into debt. It piqued my interest because debt is considered something to avoid. What could be ok to get into debt for?

The listed reasons to get into debt were a student loan, home loan or a business loan. OK, that made sense.

Three years ago I would have totally agreed. Yes, student loans will better your future and to invest into a student loan would be beneficial. Yes, home loans tend to be a sound investment. By the time you pay off the loan and likely sooner, they *probably* would have increased in value. Yes, loan for a promising business sounds wise too.

Getting out of Credit Card Debt

Can I get out of credit card debt?

Yes, you can get out of credit card debt.

It’s so easy to get into credit card debt and it’s difficult to get out of credit card debt.

BUT, it isn’t impossible.

To get out of credit card debt you need determination (your mindset - that “I can” attitude) and planning (that turns to action and commitment).

Try to think of personal reasons for getting out of debt and try to see the benefits of being debt free. (No more phone calls from creditors, no more past due notices, no more late charges, no more outrageous interest, no more HOPELESSNESS)

Los Angeles Bans the Plastic Bag

HOORAY!

Can they really do that?

YES, San Francisco did it last year and it was in effect last November.

Consumers’ options are to buy those reuseable canvas bags or pay for a paper or biodegradeable bag at 25cents a bag. Yikes! 3% of the bag fee cost will go back to the retailer, 3% will go to the state, and the rest will go back to the city to fund an education campaign. I think that’s a mighty good idea. If people can’t chose to do what’s right for our earth, then we’ll make them do it. How much do you want to bet that people will be using those canvas bags?

Me and my pal, Bailey in Central Park

You know how I like to travel? And you know how I love trees?

I was thinking of somewhere to go this weekend and thought I’d visit another National Forest like last weekend (Big Bear is located in the San Bernardino National Forest).

I thought of Napa Valley, I could do some wine tasting and hit the national forests. Tons of trees. There are also so many National Parks that way: Mendocino, Los Padres, Tahoe, Shasta-Trinity, Plumas and not to mention the famous Yosemite. Here’s a link that maps them all out. Spot Loves This Airline

I can’t believe I forgot to tell you about the new airlines we flew when going to SF last month. Virgin America (www.virginamerica.com)

We bought our tickets 3 months in advance and it was $49 one way. Isn’t that good? We use to drive to save money, can’t really do that now with these rising gas prices.

Not only was it a good rate to fly, this airline was state-of-the-art. There were TV consoles in front of every seat where you can watch TV, get the news, purchase videos to watch, buy snacks and beer, play free games, chat with anyone on the plane and other things I had yet to discover.

What a riot I had last night!!

Did you know that not all dogs can swim? (Yeah, it amazed me too!)

I thought all us dogs are born knowing how to swim. I’ve never heard of swim classes for dogs or anything and I always see dogs swimming out at the lake, on the river or in a pool.

Well, last night I was hanging out with some friends, having a BBQ and dipping in the pool to stay cool.

One dog had a life vest on!!! I was thinking, “You’ve got to be kidding.”

A Weekend in Big Bear, for the Big Dog

June 23, 2008 · Filed Under update · 1 Comment

This weekend I went up to a family camp in Big Bear, CA to get some rest and to relax.

Did you know that winter brings an average of 100 inches of snow to Big Bear Mountain? However, there are more than 300 days of beautiful sunshine all year long. Learn more about Big Bear at http://www.bigbear.com.
